Dr. James Vavra

Dr. Vavra is an Illinois native who graduated from Carroll College, Waukesha, WI and the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine.

As the father of 4 children he has a strong interest in pediatric podiatric care and sports medicine He works with pediatricians at the WMH Pro-Health Clinics to improve their patient's foot health and treat any congenital deformities. Also, he has worked with area high school athletic trainers to prevent injuries and treat problems that arise during training.

Professional credentials include:

  • Diplomat of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery
  • Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons

Dr. Vavra served as the Director of the Podiatric Residency Program of Greater Milwaukee from 1997-2001.

Dr. Vavra resides in Mukwonago with his wife Denise and his son and daughters. He enjoys playing hockey, coaching, boating, golf, and water skiing.

Dr. Shawn Sanicola

Dr. Shawn Sanicola is a Wisconsin native who was born and raised in Milwaukee. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, he went on to receive his degree in Podiatric Medicine from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. Upon graduation he completed a three year surgical residency program at the Denver Veterans Administration Hospital and the United States Air Force Academy.

Dr. Sanicola is a board certified surgeon with extensive training and experience in limb salvage surgery and sports medicine. Being a former college athlete and a foot and ankle surgeon for the USAFA he understands the mindset of the athlete and focuses on returning the patient to full activity as efficiently as possible.

Dr. Sanicola continues to be active in research and brings cutting edge technology directly to his patients in an effort to maximize their care. He has lectured extensively throughout the country on limb salvage and diabetes.

In his spare time he most enjoys spending time with his family, skiing, coaching, and volunteering for the St. Joe’s Medical Clinic and Lake Area Free Clinic.

Dr. Amy Galati


Dr. Galati grew up in Lake Country and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Galati holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nutritional Science and a Bachelors of Science in Biology. She received her degree in Podiatric Medicine from Dr. William M. School College of Podiatric Medicine. Upon graduation, she completed a three year surgical residency program in Chicago, Illinois. She previously taught Podiatric Surgery course at the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine before moving back to Lake Country.

Dr. Galati is a board certified surgeon with professional interests in wound care, foot and ankle surgery, pediatric care, and geriatric care.

Dr. Galati's personal interests are yoga, hiking, gardening , cooking and spending time with her family.

Dr. Anton J. Sella, DPM

Dr. Sella graduated from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed a surgical residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago where he served as chief resident. Before relocating to the Lake Country area he was a faculty attending for the Rush University Medical Center podiatric residency program as well as an assistant faculty attending for the University of Chicago/NorthShore University HealthSystem family medicine residency program. He has a special emphasis in diabetic limb salvage and sports medicine.

Dr. Sella grew up in Menomonee Falls and attended the University of Wisconsin La-Crosse on a full academic scholarship. While in La Crosse he competed four years in Cross Country and Track and Field and was a member of six NCAA Championship Teams. He is a USA Track and Field level 1 certified coach specializing in endurance events. He lectures on sports injuries and prevention and has served on the medical staff of the Chicago Marathon elite athlete program and Chicago Triathlon.

Outside of the office he enjoys the outdoors and is a competitive cyclist and long distance runner. He has finished in the Top-100 of the Chicago Marathon and the Top-150 of the Boston Marathon.

Dr. Tyler Veldkamp

Dr. Veldkamp graduated from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He then completed a three year reconstructive foot and ankle surgical residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis while serving as chief resident. His clinical interests and training include ankle instability; Achilles tendon disorders; foot and ankle trauma/fracture care; sports medicine injuries; foot and ankle deformities; hallux valgus (bunion) conditions; hallux rigidus (great toe joint arthritis); arthroscopy of the foot and ankle; toe contractures (hammer toe deformities); tendon disorders; foot and ankle arthritis; cartilage repair; and diabetic foot care.

Dr. Veldkamp appreciates the opportunity to custom-tailor individual treatment plans for his patients. His goal is to ensure that every patient he encounters feels well cared for and, moreover, cared about.

Dr. Veldkamp resides in Brookfield with his wife Ashley. He grew up in Oostburg, Wisconsin near Sheboygan and attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI for undergrad. An active upbringing and involvement in sports led to his interest in Podiatry. Outside of the office he enjoys the outdoors, playing and watching sports, spending time with family, and involvement in church life.

Dr. Jeremy Philipsen

Dr. Jeremy Philipsen is a Wisconsin native born in Appleton. He subsequently graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biomedical Sciences. He then spent the next year working with AmeriCorps in Milwaukee before attending and earning his Degree in Podiatric Medicine from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University. After graduation he completed a three year surgical residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with focus in various  Foot and ankle pathologies including diabetic limb salvage and rearfoot reconstruction.

Dr. Philipsen is board qualified in forefoot and rearfoot surgery. His professional interests include wound care, diabetic limb salvage, and arthritic conditions of the foot and ankle. He grew up playing soccer and associates this with his interest in foot and ankle pathology. He also enjoys downhill skiing, spending time with his dog, and watching Wisconsin sports teams.


Dr. Xiong

Now Welcoming Dr. Leng Xiong!

Dr. Xiong graduated from Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, with honors.  He completed a three-year surgical residency at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) Health/Millcreek Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania.  While in residency, he also earned a Master’s degree in Health Services Administration.

Dr. Xiong treats a variety of foot and ankle deformities and trauma including forefoot and rearfoot pathologies, plantar fasciitis, tendon disorders, neuroma, arthritic joints, diabetic limb salvage, and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery.  Dr. Xiong’s special interests include minimally invasive surgery (MIS) such as bunions, hammertoes, and foot and ankle scopes.  His patient-centered approach to providing care seeks to not only improve patient’s health outcomes but to also improve the patient’s overall care experience.

As a Wisconsin native, Dr. Xiong grew up in Sheboygan and spent many summers by the shore of Lake Michigan.  He is a UW-Madison alum and former volunteer soccer coach for Madison Schools and Community Recreation program. When he is not caring for patients, Dr. Xiong enjoys fishing, playing soccer, basketball and football, and cheering on local sport teams.
